Goal: Determine the amount, location, and behaviors of different populations at Zionsville Lower Middle School.
Create a map (or maps) that shows the boundaries for each population, and describe how each habitat is different (example: The hallway habitat). You may use both direct and indirect observation, but you may not enter classrooms without permission or when the teacher is teaching. Use sampling to make estimates if observation is not possible. You may not enter restricted areas such as the teacher's lounge, and you may not enter closets, janitorial rooms, or other areas "behind closed doors". Write a report that describes all ecosystems, the populations they contain, and the biotic and abiotic factors that are important to each population (coffee, for example, is an abiotic factor important to the teacher population). Also, determine how many organisms are in each population and what there behaviors are (how they live and interact with other organisms in the community). This is a scientific study, and your report should be detailed, professional, descriptive, and well-written. It should be at least 3 pages of text in length.
