Licenses

Each license will be earned through passing both an oral and a flight test using either Microsoft's Flight Simulator or Terminal Reality's FLY.

Student Pilot (10 extra credit points in Math or Science Class)

Oral Test: Altimeter, airspeed indicator, turn coordinator, heading indicator, vertical speed indicator, throttle, gear, flaps, rpm, traffic patterns.

Flight Test: Take off and land to a full stop at Meigs Field with the Cessna 172RG. Do not go off runway. Maintain traffic pattern altitude (1,000 ft. AGL, 1,700 ft. MSL) to within 400 ft. Fly a square pattern.

Privileges: Can use MS Flight Sim during homeroom time to practice for the Private Pilot test.

Private Pilot (30 extra credit points in Math or Science Class)

Oral Test: Map interpretation, aerodynamics, wind speed and correction during flight.

Flight Test: Turns to a heading, slow flight, changing altitude, flying to and landing at an airport.

Privileges: Can use FLY during homeroom time to prepare for Instrument Test

Instrument Pilot: (20 extra credit points)

Oral Test: ILS, VOR, DME, flight through clouds, navigation by VOR

Flight Test: Using FLY's Skyhawk XP, prepare for test by practicing ILS approaches into Indianapolis International Airport day and night with clouds 500 to 1000 feet above ground.

Privileges: Can fly all airplanes available with FLY

Commercial Pilot: (15 extra credit points)

Oral and Flight Test: Same as above license requirements, but the test will be using the King Air on FLY! or the Lear Jet on Microsoft's Flight Sim.

Flight Instructor: (5 extra credit points)

Oral Test: Review previous material

Flight Test: Teaching someone else how to use the simulators

Privileges: Can help teach summer school class

Ratings

Taildragger: Requires Private Pilot License. Practice take-offs and landings in the Cessna 120 in FLY

High Performance: Requires Private Pilot License. Prepare by practicing take-offs and landings in the Lear Jet.

Aerobatic: Requires Private Pilot License. Using a Cessna 172 (suggest using FLY!), practice: 1) Stalls, 2) Spins, 3) Rolls, 4) Loops, and 5) Hammerheads
