THE ZIONSVILLE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES

June 8, 2005

 

The Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation met Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. All Board members were present. Roger Burrus, Board Counsel and Al Smith, Park Superintendent were also present.

Jeff Glass moved to approve the May minutes. Seconded and passage was unanimous.

Superintendent’s Report

Al Smith reported that the pathway connections from Cobblestone Lakes to the Rail Trail have been completed.

 

OLD BUSINESS

 American Legion Trail Crossing

Al Smith reported that four proposals have been received for the arch and flagpole with lighting. Al Smith recommended that the lowest proposal in the amount of $18,180.20 from Inside and Out Design be accepted. The other proposals received were from Mattcon ($27,283 – electric not included), RL Turner ($33,404), and Wolfson Young Corporation ($52,791).

Art Small moved to accept the proposal in the amount of $18,180.20 from Inside and Out Design. Seconded and passage was unanimous.

Elm Street Green/Little League

Chuck Keraga, Little League president presented plans for the layout of four practice fields and parking. Two area residents expressed concerns regarding added traffic on Elm Street. The Board asked Little League to get input from the Planning Department on the current plans for use of Elm Street Green. The Board also asked that Little League, after gathering input from the Planning Department, return to seek Board approval which would be subject to Plan Commission approval.

Mulberry Fields

Roger Burrus reported that the Town Council has voted to sign over the deed for Mulberry Fields to the Zionsville Park and Recreation Board.

Art Small moved the Board approve the claims submitted. Seconded and passage was unanimous.

 

The next Park Board meeting will be July 13, 2005.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.

The Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation met in executive session on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 7:00 p.m., at the Zionsville Town Hall. All Board members were present. Roger Burrus, Board Counsel and Al Smith, Park Superintendent were also present.

 

The Board discussed strategy with respect to the purchase or lease of real property. The Board discussed no subject matter other than the aforementioned. The notice of Executive Session is attached.
