THE ZIONSVILLE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD
May 14, 2003
The Zionsville Board of Park and Recreation met Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. All Board members were present. Roger Burrus, Board Counsel and Al Smith, Park Superintendent were also present.
Art Small moved to approve the April minutes. Seconded and passage was unanimous.
Superintendent’s Report
Al Smith reported that Mattcon has completed the Creekside Nature Park project.
OLD BUSINESS
Bradley Property
George Tikijian presented a Request for Proposal - Basic Concept Plan for New Park.
Art Small moved to approve the Request for Proposal. Seconded and passage was unanimous.
Impact Fees
Art Small reported that he will present a summary of the process for the implementation of impact fees at the June Board meeting.
Budget Estimate
George Tikijian presented draft budget estimates for 2004, 2005, and 2006. He asked the Board to review the estimates. The budget estimates are to be made available to the Town Council in July.
American Legion Trail Head
Laura Mulligan presented Brian McFarland’s concept drawings of the proposed memorial. The consensus of the Board was to adopt the conceptual design. George Tikijian asked the Facilities Committee for a rough cost breakdown on the different elements (arch, ring of stone, landscaping, etc) of the project. He suggested that local organizations might be willing to financially support an element of the project.

New Park Dedications
George Tikijian asked that the Public Communications Committee organize dedication ceremonies for Creekside Nature Park and Zion Nature Sanctuary.
Turkey Foot Bridge
George Tikijian reported that Dr. Haines has formed a committee in an attempt to raise funds for a covered bridge over Eagle Creek to Turkey Foot Nature Park.
Art Small moved the Board approve the claims submitted. Seconded and passage was unanimous.
The next Park Board meeting will be June 11, 2003.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
